Having grown up in a family who gave me regular massages, I naturally and almost instinctively began offering my friends shoulder and back massages in college.  They would always say, “This feels so good.  I feel like I should pay you.”  I just genuinely loved giving my friends massages.  It was my way of connecting with them.  One day it dawned on me that I should go to Massage Therapy School and actually learn how to do this professionally!

After graduating from Elon University with a bachelors in Psychology, I attended The New Life Institute School of Massage Excellence.  I thoroughly LOVED everything I learned in massage school and started my own practice one month after I graduated in 2000.

In the first couple of years of my practice, I took 9 continuing education classes in The John F. Barnes’ Myofascial Release (MFR) Approach®.  I fell in LOVE with this form of therapy and KNEW that this is What I Wanted To Do!  I knew that JFB-MFR would be more beneficial to my clients because I had personally received MFR in my classes and had been experiencing longer lasting results compared to the hundreds of massages I had previously received.  I am THRILLED to be able to offer this revolutionary work to my clients!

I have received training in:

MFR 1 (repeated), MFR 2, MFR Unwinding, MFR Rebounding, MFR Cervical-Thoracic (repeated), MFR Facial-Pelvis (repeated), MFR Advanced Unwinding, Pediatric MFR, Myofascial Mobilization, and the MFR Healing Seminar as well as repeated classes.

I am also certified in:

Neuromuscular Therapy (Deep Tissue)
Energetic Healing
Tuning Fork Therapy

I truly care about all of my clients.  I enjoy taking the time to get to know each person and provide the best care that I can.  I talk with my clients about their posture, stress levels, aches and pains, nutritional support, etc.  I believe in a holistic approach to healing.  One of my favorite things about my job is that I get to let my knowledge and intuition guide my hands.  As I work on each client, I have a “knowing” of where to work so that my client’s stress and pain levels diminish over time.

Every person has a different body that continuously shifts in response to everyday activities, stress or physical trauma.  My intent with MFR is to assist my clients with achieving relaxation, pain reduction, and ultimately maintaining optimal structural alignment and overall well-being.  In each session, I partner with my client to not only build a customized treatment plan but also share my knowledge so that he or she has a better understanding of his or her body and how to better support it.

I have had excellent results with clients having chronic patterns of pain from low back and neck pain, rotator cuff injuries, sciatica, frozen shoulder, and TMJ dysfunction.

Thanks so much for visiting my site, and I look forward to helping you have the best quality of life possible.  I believe that “Touch is the first sense to develop and is usually the last to fade.”
